reflection of service learning meeting

last week me and my group accomplished alot just for it to be one day . my topic is "franks for frankie" a little boy that currently passed away. {may god rest his soul} soo basically we need alot of donations ...we are giving him a memorial fair at brown elementary school in northeast philadelphia. on may3rd. we will be serving food such as hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, hamburgers...etc. we will have games ..as an obstacle course an egg/spoon race. water ballon toss and for the games a prize will be given out and we are alway doing raffle tickets. we already have face painting, a dj and subway is donating hoagies. me and my other fellow partners in the franks for frankies group split up what food equipment and paper goods we all are to begin soo stay tuned for this weeks meeting.......p.s shani-miyette was sooooo here 90's baby

where am i in service learning

where do i stand when it comes to service learning? well, honestly i might say i'm far to the bottom. i have not done any volentary work anywhere so far. even though thats not good im not doubting myself just yet! i have a few things in mind i would like to do for this project. one thing would be babysit my nephew, volenter at an mental association/hospital or clean the streets for m community. when shall i began? very soon starting saturday i will watch{babysit} my nephew for the minumin of hrs. then one day next week i will make my hospital vist. ...{common question} what is the point of this whole project? i have no idea all i know is that we are supposed to get some type of credit by june 1st. what's the consequence? if not completed hours, you will be asked to make them up in your sophmore year on top of the extra hours you have to do. so that's 30 hrs!!!!. so minus well start now of i'll see you at the finish line.......miss shani-miyette hayes was soo here 3/24/08 bye bye!

N H D. it was a very long process! it was a learning experience that i appreciate. it was heckted everyone was running around! trying to get papers printed from certain rooms it was people in the hallway practicing their performance. with boards all over the floor and the strong smell of glue as people did exhibits. loud music in the imc as people replayed their documentaries for the last time. carts moved from room to room trying to do voice overs with no noise at all. my National History Day project was an sucess! my topic was welfare rights. i did an documentary my team members was cornelius talley and shaniya pryer it was tuff but we made it through. and im glad i can proudly say im positive that im reciving an A or B on this project. i've learned a lot in this experience. but next year i must say i think i might do an exhibit it looked more managable and less stressful. ....any way back to my project in my documentary contained 2interviews one of a homeless man and another was a man that worked at a welfare reform office. the reason why i picked welfare rights it because our school topic was Conflict and Compromise. and ealier in the year i did a project in welfare and i aced it so i asked myself like why not do it again. i learned how to manage my attitude when i was frustrated. my challenges was voice overs because we was having fun at the same time i kept laughing!!! i must admit this was the biggest project i've done in my life. doing it the second time i would say yes! i like reaching for the stars it's not only about finding the easy way out not all the time!..{lol}........miss Shani miyette Hayes

what should my grade be in this subject?

Well last report marking i did well i had an A but this marking period i think i should get a B . i honestly didnt work as hard as i did 1st. period i think i could;ve did better but i dont kknkow what i happen see i cant blame my other subs and projects i had such as NHD i can only blame myself. and nobody else or anything else but english sometimes i may be lazy but eventually i get my work done. but really the only think i slacked on is my blogger and how to write things in essay form instead of a direct answer. but besides that i think {personally} that i shouldnt get a failing grade at all. i made up my work that i missed or didnt do correct and i honelsty care about my grade because if i didnt i wuldnt be using my time for this i would be playing around.


But look on your point of view what do u think i should get? how do u think my work effort is in your class? do i talk alot?{duhh!} do i do my work? do you have to push me to do my things? but in the end i still do my work and get the job done dont i? so what do u think SHANI MIYETTE HAYES should get in your class? its not up to me its really up to you. this is your decision. does shani deserve to pass or fail????? this is your questions that you have to answer its not up to me at all. if i was you know i wouldve made me an A+....lol{but naw im serious}

how welfare changed over time?... my report for national history day is on wlefare and how it changed over time.my and my partners cornelius taliey and shaniya pryer. well do research by this{plenty} vists labrarys welfare offices...etc. we are working on a documentary. and hopefully will be elcted to go national againtst other projects.

should there be an age for a child to have a lover?{cons. topic}

in my opion i say no because love is a strong word it can happen at anytime anyplace and soceity nor government can change that. people are going to love whoever they want to love no matter who says different.{we have that right as a citizen of america}. age, size, color, race. it's not really an issue when it comes to love. even though it's a rule that no more than 4years can someone be in a relationship but many of people don't abide by that rule at all. rules and regulations that the gov. makes isn' faithfully followed people are going to live thier life no matter what you say i say or the laws say. love is an option not a priorty to all people. and to take that right away from some one is un-exceptable. society does what he/she feels like just like gun law! no body care about the rules any more so why publish it? for what? its not going to be obeyed its like i dont even exists



Now and days girls are getting pregant/ haveing babies starting at the age of nine years old. HIV{aids} , STD'S ...etc. if all formed by sexually active people and most ppl. do this with the ppl. they think that they love{or whatever} the genaratioins now with sex active diases is with most percent is woman and african american. but if you think about it love leads to sex and that leads to pregnancy. and that can lead to high school drop outs . so its like steps it go higher and higher each thing lead to another until the big boom happen and everything is over for these young people. and the young people is our future and if we loose our future we have no future at all. so what are we going to do?


so maybe we should have an age limit for lovers beacuase its breaking the young people down its to many young black females thats pregnant at very young ages . very young! so should we ? make a law concerning an childs age for a lover. but maybe not like i said before teens these days are out of control and if we did make this a law it wouldn't work its now 2008 nobody cares what the cops, gov....etc. mayor has to say its all about them if they want love at the age of 10 i bet they will get it so to answer the topic question no.

should huck. finn. be taught in chs?

i think no and yes! {double answer} why this? its because no because it has horrible grammer its fiction now and days in this generatioin we need to know the truth and the truth only. thats how our heads get capped up. it's long and boring it will loose our interest very quickly with no problem at all. and no effense but we black and black people don't read not at all. unless it's a magazine. besides that for the good no we are not reading unless you really really force us did you know that malcolm x qouted in a speech saying if you want to hide something from black people put it in a book. and that's oh so true! but in high school there is reports and books involved in our cirriculam. that we may have to read but a book llike huck. finn its out of the question it's soooo long and boring and dead.


If you going to give us something to read let it be exciting! laughable violence the streets we live in/on today not anything dumb and senseless it's bad enough we dont read now so if you trying to persue us in reading dont let it be boring i mean wow! at least put something good and an intrest in our face not nothing dumb! like but it was an good long experience after all. i enjoyed the movie more than the book . the movie caught my attention at least for a good minute {not actually and minute...but u know} but that book gots to go! its like for old people thats into slavery days not young teens thats looking for a sucessful future


And yes! because some people are interested in this.{they must be wierd..lol} but all shakesphare fans may love it but i must admit i like the conflict and conclusion! its was good the movie i would have no prob. watching again but my o my that book oh no!!!
